Dining and food costs
The food budget adds up faster than you think.
Takeout, restaurants, coffee, groceries — food spending is the easiest category to lose sight of. Futari helps couples see what they're spending on dining together.
"How much did we spend on food this month?"
Individual meals feel small; the monthly total rarely does. Futari logs each food expense as you go so month-end is never a surprise.
"Sometimes we split, sometimes one pays — it's hard to keep track."
Futari supports multiple split modes per transaction. Each time you pay, mark how it's divided — 50/50, one person's treat, whatever applies. The balance accumulates automatically.
"We feel like we're eating out a lot but we're not sure."
You can't adjust what you can't see. Futari surfaces food spending without judgment — it just makes the picture clear for both of you.
How Futari helps
Flexible split modes
50/50, by income ratio, or one person covers it all — pick a mode and Futari handles the math automatically.
Real-time sync
One person records something and the other sees it instantly. The ledger is the conversation.
Chapter-based history
Moving in, getting married, new job, new home — each life chapter becomes a new ledger chapter. The past is always there to look back on.
Open only to you two
Only your two accounts can open the ledger. Connections are encrypted over HTTPS, and sensitive details like a child's legal name or ID number are encrypted again before they're stored.
Common questions
- How do we log dining costs as a couple?
- Log it right after you eat: amount, who paid, how the meal is split. If you take turns treating each other, choose the option where the payer covers the whole thing; if you split it, choose half each. At month-end, filter by the dining category to see this month's total.
- Can I log takeout and delivery in Futari?
- Yes. Futari's food and dining categories cover restaurants, takeout, delivery, and groceries. Filter by category any time to see the full dining picture.
- Will Futari warn us if we're eating out too much?
- No. Everyday spending has no budget cap and no overspend alerts. Futari just lists the month's dining total, and whether to change anything is a conversation for the two of you.
