Futari

ICOST → FUTARI

Your iCost data can come with you

iCost is iOS-only — want to log across phones as two? A screenshot + ChatGPT turns your records into a CSV to move into Futari.

Why Futari

  • Two people, across platforms

iCost is iOS-only; Futari runs on iOS, Android and the web, so it doesn’t matter what phone your partner uses.

  • Shared costs, sorted per entry

Mark who paid and how it's split on each entry, and the balance stays current; no separate spreadsheet needed.

  • Free on every platform

iCost has in-app purchases. In Futari the core ledger is free and ad-free, whether you use iOS, Android or a browser.

You can start without moving anything

Bring the old records over whenever you feel like it — the importer waits in settings once you sign in. Today’s first entry is a fine place to begin.

Moving from iCost in three steps

  1. On your iPhone, open iCost and screenshot the transactions you want to move (full how-to below).
  2. Hand the screenshots from your iPhone to ChatGPT to turn into a CSV; a copy-ready prompt is below.
  3. Upload the CSV here and preview it, then create an account to finish; your partner can join from an iPhone or an Android phone.

No CSV export? Use screenshotsFour steps, with a stop at ChatGPT along the way.

If your old app has no CSV export, you can screenshot your records and have ChatGPT turn them into a CSV to upload. The free ChatGPT plan works.

  1. In your old app, scroll your transaction list and take phone screenshots (5–10 is a good range to cover the period you want to move).
  2. Open ChatGPT, upload all the screenshots at once, and paste the prompt below.
  3. Copy the whole ```csv code block ChatGPT returns and save it as xxx.csv in any plain-text editor.
  4. Come back here, upload that csv, preview it, and create an account to finish the import.
Prompt to paste into ChatGPT
You are my bookkeeping data assistant. I will upload screenshots from a budgeting app. Please turn every transaction shown into CSV format.

Requirements:
- The first CSV row is the header: date, category, amount, description, currency, kind
- Use YYYY-MM-DD for date; if a screenshot only shows month/day (e.g. 5/30), assume the current year
- Use a positive integer for amount (no minus sign, no decimals); if it was shown as an expense or in red / with a minus sign, set kind to "expense"; if it was income or in green, set kind to "income"
- Keep the original category text from the screenshot (Chinese or English, as-is)
- Keep the merchant name or note text in description; leave it blank if there is none
- Use an ISO 4217 three-letter code for currency (TWD / USD / JPY / CNY…); default to TWD if the screenshot does not show one
- If the same transaction (same date + amount + description) appears across multiple screenshots, keep only one
- Output the CSV inside a single ```csv code block only, with no explanatory text before or after

I will upload the screenshots once you confirm.
The CSV will look like this
date,category,amount,description,currency,kind
2026-05-30,Food,150,Starbucks,TWD,expense
2026-05-30,Salary,50000,May,TWD,income

Non-TWD rows import at their raw number first; you can adjust the conversion per row after import. The prompt asks ChatGPT to keep just one copy of any entry that appears twice (same date + amount + description); Futari doesn't remove duplicates on import, so import each file only once.

No rush — you can import the CSV from settings any time after you sign in.

Preview runs in your browser. Nothing leaves your device.

Frequently asked

iCost is iOS-only and has no export. Can my data still move?
Yes. iCost has no usable export right now, so use screenshots instead: capture the transaction screens, have ChatGPT turn them into a CSV with fixed columns, then upload it below to preview.
What does the CSV from ChatGPT look like?
Six fixed columns: date, category, amount, description, currency and kind, with kind set to expense or income. There's an example below, and Futari recognises the file from those columns when you upload it.
iCost has in-app purchases. What about Futari?
Today the core ledger in Futari is free and ad-free, and import costs nothing.
My partner is on Android — can we still share it?
Yes. Futari is a cross-platform PWA — iOS, Android and the browser — so two people on different phones share one ledger.

Why this is safe to do

  • Open only to you two

Only your two accounts can open the ledger. Connections are encrypted over HTTPS, and sensitive details are stored encrypted.

  • Yours to take back

Export your expenses, income and settlements as CSV any time. Moving here doesn't lock you in.

  • Free for the long haul

The core ledger stays free. We do not run ads or sell data.
