Why Futari

  • Two-person by default — no shared-book setup

    Sui Shou Ji needs a separate shared book; in Futari the ledger is already shared by two — no extra setup.

  • Sharing, and splitting too

    Half, by ratio, each their own or one covers it: choose one per entry. Sui Shou Ji's shared ledger has no such layer; Futari builds it in.

  • No membership, no ads

    Sui Shou Ji has ads and a membership plan. Futari's core ledger is free and ad-free, and sharing it with your partner doesn't require a membership.

Moving from Sui Shou Ji in three steps

  1. In Sui Shou Ji, screenshot the transaction details you want to move; no membership needed first (full how-to below).
  2. Ask ChatGPT to read the screenshots and produce a CSV; the free plan works, and the prompt is below to copy and paste.
  3. Upload the CSV here and preview it, then create an account; sharing between the two of you needs no extra setup.

If your old app has no CSV export, you can screenshot your records and have ChatGPT turn them into a CSV to upload. The free ChatGPT plan works.

  1. In your old app, scroll your transaction list and take phone screenshots (5–10 is a good range to cover the period you want to move).
  2. Open ChatGPT, upload all the screenshots at once, and paste the prompt below.
  3. Copy the whole ```csv code block ChatGPT returns and save it as xxx.csv in any plain-text editor.
  4. Come back here, upload that csv, preview it, and create an account to finish the import.

You are my bookkeeping data assistant. I will upload screenshots from a budgeting app. Please turn every transaction shown into CSV format.

Requirements:
- The first CSV row is the header: date,category,amount,description,currency,kind
- Use YYYY-MM-DD for date; if a screenshot only shows month/day (e.g. 5/30), assume the current year
- Use a positive integer for amount (no minus sign, no decimals); if it was shown as an expense or in red / with a minus sign, set kind to "expense"; if it was income or in green, set kind to "income"
- Keep the original category text from the screenshot (Chinese or English, as-is)
- Keep the merchant name or note text in description; leave it blank if there is none
- Use an ISO 4217 three-letter code for currency (TWD / USD / JPY / CNY…); default to TWD if the screenshot does not show one
- If the same transaction (same date + amount + description) appears across multiple screenshots, keep only one
- Output the CSV inside a single ```csv code block only, with no explanatory text before or after

Non-TWD rows import at their raw number first; you can adjust the conversion per row after import. The prompt asks ChatGPT to keep just one copy of any entry that appears twice (same date + amount + description); Futari doesn't remove duplicates on import, so import each file only once.

No rush — you can import the CSV from settings any time after you sign in.

How far back do the screenshots need to go?
Scroll down to the earliest day you want to move. 5–10 screenshots usually covers it; with a lot of records, capture and convert in batches and upload each CSV in turn.
Do I need a membership for the things it unlocks?
No. The core ledger, sharing between two people and splitting are free in Futari, with no membership, and import costs nothing.
Sui Shou Ji has shared books — is Futari the same?
Futari needs no separate shared book — it is the two of you from the start, with splitting and settling built in. That’s the core difference from a single-user app plus a sharing add-on.
